Hamlet 2.1

Starter: 

Create a Diagnostic Writing Concern for your TPEQEA paragraph.
This will be helpful for your peer when providing you with feedback in your peer edit.

Activity 

1.  TPEQEA Peer Edit 

Respond to the following prompt based on ideas in act one of Hamlet.

Analyze and explain an aspect of the human condition revealed through any of the characters in Hamlet.
Your quote should be an example of figurative language that connects to the big idea. 

Refer to the section citing transcripts, plays, or screenplays on how to cite your evidence.


Complete the peer edit for a partner with the remaining class time.

Discussion Questions
Identify imagery in 2.1 by circling or highlighting words that reveal what Polonius values and what Hamlet looks like. 
How does language impact meaning?
How are Polonius and Hamlet characterized? 
 Infer why Hamlet is treating Ophelia the way he is and whether or not he really loves her. 

Complete your first reading log entry for act two. 

3.  BBC Hamlet Production

As a class, we will watch the scene.
Pay close attention to the way Hamlet is characterized in the movie compared to the text.
Jot down notes about what is similar and different to what you imagined.

We will discuss this as a class.
